When and how did you discover you wanted to be a writer/author?
I’ve written off and on forever, it seems. It’s a lot easier to write than cook, clean, and do yard work in my spare time!

Are you a published author? Yes

Please list your published material.

  • A Silhouette romantic suspense, TREACHEROUS BEAUTIES, that I’ve updated and reissued myself this year as an e-book.
  • THE MAN IN THE BOAT, another romantic mystery e-book, from MuseItUp, last March.
  • SET UP, from MuseItUp, will be out in July, along with a paranormal romance in November.
  • In December, a light mystery hardcover, TAXED TO THE MAX, from Five Star.

If these materials are books, are they still available, and from where?
The ones out are e-books, available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other locations.

Please tell about your first publication.
Silhouette bought TREACHEROUS BEAUTIES for a new line. I was lucky that it was also chosen the next year for one of the TV movies Harlequin made in partnership with CBS.

What genre do you most often write?
Romance that’s big on the mystery, too.

Who are the authors who most influenced your writing and your career?
Daphne DuMaurier, perhaps. I loved the moodiness of her REBECCA.

Who are the authors your read most often?
Anyone and everything that catches my interest.  The oldies – Agatha Christie, Georgette Heyer, Du Maurier – to the newer ones – Brunonia Barry, Carol Goodman, Tim Dorsey – and sometimes bestsellers from authors like Suzanne Collins.

What would you tell an aspiring writer who asks you for assistance?
Write.  Write, and keep writing.

What advice would you give to all up-and-coming writers?
Work on craft. I didn’t realize how important craft is until I started helping with contests and saw good stories ruined because the craft wasn’t up to par.

Do you have any project(s) planned for the future? Yes

Please provide some details of the projects.
MuseItUp Publishing is issuing two more romantic mystery ebooks as listed above. Five Star is publishing a hardcover, TAXED TO THE MAX, that’s a PG rated humorous mystery.

What is the anticipated release date?
The two ebooks will be out in July and November 2012. The hardcover will be out in December 2012.

Please provide information  on other projects or other activities.
I moderate a Query Critique group on the Writers Digest Community where members submit queries and we try to help make them better. I’m proud to say several members have been able to find agents and/or publishers. They might have been successful anyway, but I think we were of some help.
